Biography

Martin Ashley Bayless is a former American football cornerback/safety who played 13 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins from 1984 until his retirement in 1996.Bayless began coaching in 2000 as Director of Player Development for the Buffalo Bills and then became a graduate assistant for North Carolina in 2002.

In 2003, Bayless moved on to NFL Europe where he coached defensive backs for the Barcelona Dragons and Amsterdam Admirals before becoming a Defensive Quality Control Assistant for the Carolina Panthers. After six years as an assistant in the NFL, Bayless became the defensive coordinator for the United Football League’s Sacramento Mountain Lions and since then has been a defensive assistant for the Denver Broncos and more recently the Arizona Cardinals in 2017.

He played college football at Bowling Green State University.
