John Colan

John Colan joined the Coaches Inc. team in September 2011. John began his career at Coaches Inc. with an emphasis on representing men’s basketball coaches, which remains the majority of his practice. As Coaches Inc. has expanded its breadth of representation; John has led the way in the baseball, lacrosse, and hockey department. He assists in all legal matters relating to client representation including contract advisement and negotiation. Furthermore, he provides professional growth opportunities through marketing and networking, as well as general career advice. John is a 2011 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law where he served as Articles Editor of the Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. A Richmond native, John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia as 2006. Recently, John has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Miami and is a contributor to Hoopdirt.com, hosting an interview series with basketball coaches.
